Summer is the time for cool and refreshing homemade drinks!

I always make my own. Green tea, mint tea with herbs from my garden, sweet tea and lemonade; I adore them all. Years ago a friend shared this limeade recipe with me and it has since become one of my favorites!

Laura’s Basil Limeade

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Lime Juice (Fresh Squeezed or Bottled)
  • 1 Cup of Sugar ( 8 TBSP. Truvia, Stevia or equivalent sugar free sweetener)
  • 6-7 Cups of Club Soda
  • Crushed Ice
  • Fresh Lime Slices (I use 2-4 Limes)
  • 3-4 Sweet Basil Sprigs (Medium to Large Springs)
  • Extra Lime Wedges and Basil for Garnishing

Instructions

  • In a pitcher, mix juice, sugar or non-sugar sweetener and club soda until sweetener is dissolved. Add sweet basil and lime slices to the mixture and let it set.
  • Put crushed ice and a sweet basil sprig in each glass and pour the club soda mixture over.
  • Serve with a wedge of lime garnishing the edge of each glass.
  • The great thing about making your own beverages, instead of buying sodas or Kool-Aid this summer is knowing you are giving your family a healthy alternative with no artificial colors or flavors! You control the ingredients, the amount of sugar and type of sweetener.

    It is so much healthier!
